Hughes: A Friend of Business
Holly Hughes earns highest rating from Muskegon Chamber of Commerce
MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Chamber of Commerce recently released their Business Friendly Voter Guide of Muskegon candidates. Holly Hughes, candidate for State Representative, earned three stars which is the highest mark available.
“I am proud to be considered a friend of business by the Muskegon Chamber of Commerce,” said Hughes. “My first priority is to make Michigan more attractive to job providers. As a small business owner I know what it takes to create jobs in Michigan. It’s apparent that the chamber and I see eye to eye on the best way to improve our economy.”
The Business Friendly Voter Guide is a new project put together by the Muskegon Chamber of Commerce to boost awareness of where candidates stand on issues important to the local business community. Candidates received anywhere from zero-three stars based on answering a survey and interviewing with members of the chamber.
By receiving three stars Hughes is deemed to understand the economic issues that impact the business community, be ready and able to stand up for business and will help to create jobs and prosperity for Muskegon County Residents. Hughes’ opponent, Mary Valentine, refused to participate in the interview.
“With her track record in the legislature I am not surprised Valentine refused to meet with the Chamber of Commerce,” Said Hughes. “She has consistently voted for higher taxes and more regulations which are hurting local businesses. With our struggling economy we simply can’t afford to keep Valentine in office for another two years.”
